26th edition of the International Exhibition for Food, Beverages and Food Raw Materials

Prodexpo is Russia's largest food trade show in terms of professional interest, market coverage and exhibition space (Source: Russian National Exhibition Rating; see http://www.exporating.ru/themes/4602/).

Prodexpo is the first important event in the business calendar of 2019 for food and beverage manufacturers, suppliers and retailers.  

The opening ceremony will be held on February 11 at 12.00 in the Gallery between pavilions No.2 and No.8.

Show Highlights

The idea to arrange Russian regional pavilions has been a success. The number of presented regions is growing every year. Local authorities, which are interested in promotion of their small and mid-sized enterprises on the food market, acknowledge that Prodexpo is a very effective marketing tool.  

The Russian market remains interesting and attractive for foreign companies. Belorussian companies are the most numerous at Prodexpo 2019. They can be found in every product sector of the show. Other large pavilions belong to Italy (76 companies), Armenia, China, Azerbaijan, Spain, France, Turkey and South Korea.

The companies of the first national pavilion of Ethiopia have brought coffee, beans, fresh vegetables and fruit, including exotic ones. Another first national pavilion is presented by Indonesia with this country's traditional dry food. The salon of alcoholic drinks premiers a national Germany pavilion organised by Deutsches Weininstitut GmbH.

This year Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) is Prodexpo's general sponsor. The "Made in Azerbaijan" pavilion features 31 companies which show a wide range of goods from fresh agricultural products to canned food and from natural mineral water to various alcoholic and soft drinks, teas, nuts, dried fruit, confenctionery and many more. The second group stand of Azerbaijan is located in the Alcoholic Drinks, Wines Salon. 

The Expocentre for Counterfeit-Free Exhibitions Project (Stand 21D95) will be carried out on each day of Prodexpo 2019. The project is aimed at minimizing counterfeit products showcased at exhibitions through providing consultations and clarifications regarding intellectual property.

The Recruitment Centre (Stand 85A20) enables the Prodexpo participants and visitors to get a free consultation on the labour market and handle with HR-related matters directly at the trade show.

Product Sectors

28 salons showcase all segments of the Russian and foreign food markets.

The Meat and Meat Products, Cooked Meats, Poultry, Eggs Salon features more than 120 companies from Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Belarus, Chile, France Hungary, India, Paraguay, Portugal, Russia, and Uruguay. The Russian exhibitors include 12 major manufacturers from the top 25 including Miratorg, Cherkizovo, Rusagro, Agro-Belogorye, Agropromkomplektatsiya, Resurs, Siberian Agrarian Group, Damate, etc. Along some major agricultural holdings, there are regional meat companies such as Vladimirskiy Standart, Eletskiy Myasokombinat, Norilskiy MPK, Iney (St.-Petersburg), Krol i K (Smolensk region), Lyskovsky Myasokombinat (Nizhniy Novgorod region), and many more. Newcomers are Nalchiksky MK, Tkachev Agrokompleks, Coral, and others.   

In 2019 the Dairy Products, Cheese Salon has grown by 7.5% in comparison to the last year to feature 177 companies from Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia and Serbia. Among Russian exhibitors there are such major dairy companies as Kosmos Group (Milkom), Renna Group and processing plants Bryansk Dairy Factory, Shakhunskoe Moloko, Kiprino, Russkoe Moloko, Yugovskoy Plant of Dairy Products, etc. The exhibits include a great variety of cheeses from soft to hard, including cheese made by Russian companies. Well-known participants include Velikolukskiy Molochny Kombinat, Kabosh, Belebeevsky Dairy Plant and Ichalki. Newcomers include Vasileostrovskaya Cheese Factory, Vladpromsyr, Kazminsky Dairy Plant, Kosov Butter Plant, and Novator, which is the largest dairy producer in the Republic of Crimea.  

The Salon of Groceries, Cereals, Pasta, Spaces, Kitchen Herbs will bring together 141 companies. Exhibits include grits, salt, sugar and flour. The participants are AFG National Agro Holding  (St.-Petersburg), InfoLink (Moscow), Passim (Novosibirsk), Yarmarka Trading House (Petrozavodsk) and Uvelka (Chelyabinsk region).   

Every year the interest in fish and seafood is growing. This year, the Fish and Seafood. Aquaculture Salon shows live, chilled and quick frozen fish, seafood, caviar, gourmet fish, snacks, canned fish and seafood, and ingredients for sushi which have become popular in Russia. Russian manufacturers showcase a wide range of sea, river, lake and farmed fish. The geography is also impressive. The exhibitors come from all over Russia from Far East to Kaliningrad and from Murmansk to Astrakhan and the Black Sea, Crimea.  

Traditional seafood is shown by companies from China, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Latvia. Yakutia Fish Company demonstrates ecologically clean gourmet fish. BaltKo, a leading company in selling surimi in Russia, and Balt-OST, a well-known manufacturers and supplier of canned fish, are Prodexpo's regular participants. Produktgarant presents products under the 5 Seas brand, which is a leading brand of canned fish in Russia.

An important newcomer is Antey, which is one of the largest companies in the Russian Far East. It catches and processes crab and fish. At Prodexpo, the company shows a variety of herring, sardines, red caviar, and live seafood: king crabs, sea cucumbers, scallops.

Prodexpo features the largest in Russia and Eastern Europe showcase of alcoholic drinks from more than 30 countries. It is Russia's only exhibition that brings together more than 90% of participants of the alcohol market. As before, there are many companies which show liquors especially vodka and brandy. 

Each year there are more and more wines exhibited at Prodexpo. This year the usual countries, Argentina, Chile, France, Italy, Portugal, South Africa and Spain, are joined by Abkhazia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and others. The project Wine from Russia is growing. It is located at Stand 52B15, Hall 2, Pavilion No.5. Moreover, Russian wines from Crimea, Krasnodar krai, Stavropol krai, Rostov oblast and other regions are demonstrated at many other stands.

The beer sector has grown by 19% which is in part a result of the increased interest in it on the Russian market. There are both trading companies and brewers. Companies from Georgia and Abkhazia show beer for the first time.  

Prodexpo's leader is the Salon of Confectionary, Snacks, Nuts, Dried Fruit and Bakery. It brings together 442 manufacturers and suppliers of bakery, pastry and confectionery products. Some of the most popular products are confectionery for children such as chocolate figures, chocolate eggs with toys, and jelly candies. There are a lot of newcomers to the salon in 2019. The showcase of chocolate and chocolate candies is expected to be very rich. After a break, Casa Luker, a Colombian company with cacao beans products, and a well-known Russian confectionery factory Vernost Kachestvu come back to Prodexpo. Exhibitors show not only traditional bitter, dessert, milky and white chocolate but also chocolate bars, souffle in chocolate and chocolate truffles. Following the healthy lifestyle trend, Pobeda presents sugarless chocolate with stevia and inulin. Overall, the salon shows an increasing consumer demand for healthy sweets and snacks.

The Salon of Canned Food, Sauces and Ketchups feature 170 companies from Armenia, Belarus, China, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and other countries. Main exhibitors are leading Russian manufacturers of canned food such as Glavproduct, Gipar, Skopinsky Meat Processing Plant, Kaliningrad Package Factory, Virosco, Gagarinsky Konservniy Kombinat and Ecoprodukt. This year, newcomers to the salon are especially interesting. Arkrus shows canned food from Turkey. National Products shows traditional Georgian satsebeli, tkemali and narsharab. Eco Argo presents premium products from Armenia. Greek Trade has brought olives and olive oil.  

The Salon of Juices, Mineral Water and Soft Drinks features 111 companies. The number of exhibitors has grown by 9% in comparison to 2018. The participants include Arkhiz, Arasan (Kazakhstan), Priboy (Krasnodar krai), Yartsevskiy Combine of Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Rusfood, Holding Aqua (Essentuki), Neft, Noyan (Armenia), etc. Newcomers are Aqualine, Naturalnuy Napitki, Prominvest, Uralskiye Istochniki (Urals Springs), Bonne Juomat (Finland).

Prodexpo launches a new salon for manufacturers and suppliers of organic foodstuffs and beverages Prodexpo Organic. Its exhibitors are companies whose products have an organic certificate valid through February 2019. Companies which showcase products which are in the conversion stage or if organic products make up less than 70% of their product line will be located next to Prodexpo Organic.

Prodexpo Organic features 38 companies from 9 countries: Bolivia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Spain and Vietnam. Distributors present products from all over the globe including juices, beverages, tea from Germany, desserts, canned food and vegetable soups from France, coconut products from Sri Lanka, oils from Thailand, coffee and tea from the Netherlands, and baobab products from Zimbabwe. Russian organic products include dairy, cheese, dry food, confectionery, beverages and many more. Russian exhibitors come from Kaluga, Rostov, Tula, Tambov, Yaroslavl regions, etc. The Organic Union of Kuban Farmers has brought fresh vegetables and fruit.   

The Salon of Products for Healthy Lifestyle shows significant growth (18%) in comparison to 2018. It features 82 companies from Belarus, Belgium, Colombia, Poland, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. They present sugar and gluten free products, natural products, cereals, crisp breads, bran, oils, beverages and many more. The participants include Good Food, Diamir-K, Dietica, Bioproducts, Kupiec (Poland), QNT (Belgium), Organic Food, etc.   

The Multiproduct Salon shows products for restaurants, retail distribution centres and trading houses which work with small orders.

The Salon of Ingredients has grown by 22%. Other widely presented products are frozen food and semi-prepared foods, teas and coffee, raw materials for the food industry, honey and bee products, baby food, sports food, vegetables, fruit, mushrooms, wild food, and pet food.

Other traditional salons are ProdexpoPack (packaging solutions for the food industry); Glass Containers; Closures, Design, Production of Beverages; and Equipment and Services.

The opening event is the Panel on the Russian Food Market: Focus on Growth, International Cooperation and Export organised by RBC, Prodexpo's strategic media partner, and Expocentre AO.

The first edition of the Conference on Organic Products in Retail: Problems and Solutions is organised by the Look.Bio information portal and Expocentre AO.

A new feature of Prodexpo 2019 is the whole day devoted to retail (14 February).

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the Rosselkhoznadzor Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance and Agroexposervis hold the Conference on the State Regulations of Food Quality and Safety.  

The Round Table on Russian Hospitality is organised by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism and the Russian State University of Tourism and Service with support of Expocentre AO. The event includes an award ceremony of the Taste Experience 2018 international competition.

Alcoexpert Group organises the 14th Russian Conference on the Alcoholic Market – AlcoCongress 2019 and the 5th Wine Forum.

The supporting events also include:
