Today, the 26th edition of the Prodexpo International Exhibition for Food, Beverages and Food Raw Materials has opened its doors. It is the largest food show in Russia and Eastern Europe.

General Director of Expocentre AO Sergey Bednov spoke at the opening ceremony and thanked the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and all industry associations and unions for their support in organizing the trade show.

Mr Bednov said that Prodexpo had once again improved its quality and increased the number of participants. It occupies all nine pavilions of Expocentre Fairgrounds and two additional temporary pavilions. The exhibition space exceeds 100,000 sq m.

This year 2,442 companies from 69 countries of Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa and Australia demonstrate their best products. Thirty countries have national pavilions.

The number of Russian regions which want to show their products has also grown. This year there are 21 of them. In total, there are 1,722 Russian manufacturers and suppliers taking part in Prodexpo 2019.

Twenty eight salons cover all sectors of the Russian and foreign food market. This year’s premiere is Prodexpo Organic for manufacturers and suppliers of organic food and beverages.

According to Sergey Bednov, Prodexpo is not only a show of products but, first of all, business networking platform. It offers a lot of conferences, workshops, and master classes on many different topics. The traditional Purchasing Centre for Retail Chains helps manufacturers and retailers to meet face-to-face.

During the opening ceremony, Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut talked about the importance of Prodexpo for Russian manufacturers. First Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee for Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Sergey Lisovsky reminded that over the years of the existence of Prodexpo Russia transformed from a country which lacked food to a country that makes and exports high quality food and beverages. According to Mr Lisovsky, participation of Russian companies in Prodexpo greatly contributed to these developments.

President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin compared Prodexpo to a get together that creates many new opportunities for Russian food companies, especially opportunities to meet and cooperate with their foreign partners. It is also a platform for discussions and networking with representatives of the Russian Government and the Federation Council related to updating laws and regulations which promote development of Russian agricultural producers.

Other participants in the opening ceremony were Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agriculture Vladimir Kashin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee for Regional Policy and Problems of the North and Far East Nikolay Kharitonov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Federation Committee for Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management Sergey Mitin, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Andrey Razin, Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu, and several ambassadors to Russia of other countries.
