Main forums of alcohol industry held at Prodexpo 2020
The 15th Russian alcohol market conference, AlcoCongress 2020, and the 6th Wine Forum took place at Expocentre Fairgrounds today within the largest Russian food show, Prodexpo 2020. Industry experts, leading manufacturers and suppliers of alcoholic beverages, officials, and representatives of industry organisations discussed a broad range of issues pertaining to the development and regulation of the domestic alcohol market.
The main theme of AlcoCongress was "The Regulatory Guillotine: From Regulations to Laws." AlcoCongress organising committee head Yury Yudich said in his opening remarks that the regulatory guillotine aims to rid of outdated regulations, which are slowing down economic development and businesses.
Wine Forum participants highlighted market development amid the enforcement of the Federal Law on Viticulture and Winemaking in December 2019. In the opinion of head of the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service's financial oversight department Vladimir Mishelovich, "this law is a breakthrough, since it puts an end to the anti-alcohol campaign of late last century. New vistas will open for Russian wine growers and makers in the coming years.”
The Wine Forum witnessed a landmark event: the signing of a multilateral memorandum of cooperation between the Eurasian Business Alliance (ACIR/ACEA), the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers, leading Russian wine distributor Palais Royal, Spanish winemaker Roqueta Origen, and the Lenta retail chain.
The Wine Guide Prodexpo award ceremony took place at the end of AlcoCongress and the Wine Forum.
The winners of another important competition, the 22nd Prodexpo international tasting competition contest, were awarded the day before. The 2019 competition involved 221 companies from 24 countries, including practically every leader of the alcohol industry, both manufacturers and dealers. Consistent with the international practice, degustation took place before the exhibition. Beverages that win the contest are officially named the best beverages on the Russian market.
