The Panel Discussion on Organic Products in Retail: From Concept to Successful Implementation. New Trends and Challenges in Retail Trade was organised at Prodexpo 2026 by the Russian Quality System (Roskachestvo), EXPOCENTRE AO and the Organic Fund.

The event was attended by the representatives of the Russian State Duma, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Roskachestvo, ACORT, Globus, Õ5 Group, Auchan, Azbuka Vkusa, OZON, the Union of Processors of Wild Plants, etOrganica, and the Rozh da Len organic store.

The discussion was moderated by Vyacheslav Fedyunin, Director at the Organic Fund.

“Organic products are a unique area for Russia in terms of regulating its activities,” said Vyacheslav Fedyunin. “Here is a simple example. Today, we have less than half a percent of certified organic producers from all enterprises of the agriculture industry. But at the same time, this is probably the only field of activity where state standards and requirements for the production and certification of products are so thoroughly and clearly regulated. There is a separate law that regulates the production of organic products. There is a government decree that approved the development strategy until 2030. In other words, a fairly powerful regulatory framework has been developed.”

Alexey Sitnikov, Deputy at the Russian State Duma, highlighted his speech that in 2005 organic products had been fashionable for the elite and they had been a product of the premium sector only, but today the situation changed dramatically. Now it is a production where safety, quality, and respect for both soil and animals, as well as the land, are at the forefront.

The participants discussed the legislative regulation of organic products, issues of fair trade in organic products and their promotion, the fight against greenwashing, and much more.
